The Wakefield Police Department looks for professional, motivated, and mature individuals looking to build a solid foundation in Law Enforcement. College graduates, Corrections Officers, and Military veterans are encouraged to apply.
The Wakefield NH Police Department primarily finds potential hire candidates through the Great Bay Community College (GBCC) Police exam. This exam is offered quarterly at the GBCC Portsmouth Campus, to sign up for the next exam go here: https://www.greatbay.edu/business-community/business-training-center/police-testing-alliance/
The Wakefield NH Police Department conducts a hiring process to include Physical Fitness Testing, an Oral Board panel, and a Chief's Interview. Approved Candidates will be offered a Conditional Offer of employment. The Conditional Offer includes a thorough Background Investigation, a Psychiatric Examination, a Criminal History check, a Motor Vehicle check, and may include a Polygraph Test. Qualified applicants will then begin their Field Training with the Department. This include Firearms qualifications, Defensive Tactics education, and other Law Enforcement training. The newly hired Candidate will also be required to attend the 16 week Full Time Police Academy in Concord (NH Police Standards and Training Council) and a required 3 year contract upon completion.
